how close do you think conservationists are to actualising the anti-whaling law/ i think it's already in place but what about japan setting up a new pro-whaling body? personally i'm pro-conservation but the government of my country is giving some transparent excuse about japan being a prominent trading partner so they're planning on supporting the pro-whaling thing.

The whole pro-whaling thing is just sick, its just a sick excuse for the government to make some fast cash. Then again isnt the killing of most animals just a way to earn money?

Yah... money rules this world. However, it looks like it's being ruled by children. Long-term vision is still a dream. Laws are fine, but in the field... who really cares.

Development must proceed... It seems there is no way out. The earth will be destroyed along with us on it; and worst of all we cant live on mars with all the billions being spent on research.
So whats next? Guess we just have to sit back and watch the beginning of the end - speeding up faster each day.

it is the beginning of the end ......... global warming that is the answer. The mayority of the people think that it is not important, mostly people that have power.

The most pressing conservatin concern in my area is preserving what marsh is left in Louisiana, and hopefully convincing the federal government to help out a little.

Consumerism is destroying the world. Ever since the Industrial revolution, carbon dioxide levels have increased steadily over the years, with this has also come a steady increase in the global temperatures (global warming). To make matters worse, we are destroying the forests and trees in our backyards that convert this carbon dioxide into oxygen and food. We use more fossil fuels, increase bio-gas from our beef and lifestock industries, and produce waste that are hard to decay and manage properly. Thus, there has been an increase in el nino and la nina effects, more hurricanes (as seen recently) with increased intensities, climate shifts, flooding and other natural disasters. The ozone layer is larger than it has ever been, forcing people in Australia to be extra carefill as skin cancers are on the rise there.

What is driving all this?......consumerism. Large first world countries have degraded their environments because of the all mighty Dollar and now are forcing developing countries to keep their natural areas (which they should keep) and these third world coutries want to become economically stable to erode poverty...which is the major cause of habitat loss....... we are all in one messed up world.

We are in a grind...and it will only get worst..at best..we can slow it down... but consumerism will win..and when we have all reduced the earth to rubble...(if we live that long)... what next??

Some say armageddon...some say the second coming...some say extinction...whatever you beleive...... remember this.....

This world will not last forever in its current state...we will not live forever in our current state..... so make sure you have insurance. Know where you WILL go when this is all over.... Have faith in something...it may turn out to be the right thing...... or close enough...

...but never trust in man (human beings)...look what we have done to ourselves and nature.... There is a better way!!!
